General Description

 

The Assistant Operations Manager will assist the Operations Manager in maximizing overall efficiency in Dispatch. The Assistant Operations Manager will work with customers, our management team, office staff, and drivers to meet client expectations for punctuality and customer service. The Assistant Operations Manager will coordinate activities of the Operations Department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel by performing the following essential duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

 

  • Coordinate with Operations Manager to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of entire Operations staff.             
  • Regularly maintain training and feedback alternatives.             
  • Educate Operations’ staff on best practices, company policies and procedures, and service excellence standards.
  • Ensure supervisors are using required technology to assure daily trip schedules are completed and all vehicles, drivers, and alerts are being monitored effectively. Oversee supervisors to ensure they are maintaining productivity by reducing vehicle non-productive time.
  • Assist with interviewing, training, performance evaluation, promotion, discipline, and termination of Operations’ Supervisors/Dispatchers.
  • Review timesheets and schedules of staff. Assist Accounts Payable and the Director of Operations with payroll review and edits.
  • Confer and cooperate with other management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Operations Manager and Director of Operations.
  • Address operational issues and concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Additional Supervisory Responsibilities include carrying out duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  
  • Address complaints and help resolve departmental problems.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and minimum one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of, RouteMatch and SageQuest Database software, or the ability to learn this software quickly.
